Random Thought Thread

El Manana had a peculiar story in today's edition about Nuevo Laredo's emergency response team.  Because of limited resources, paramedics arrived at the scene of an accident with no splinting device to assist a woman who was involved in a motor vehicle crash.  The injured person was complaining of leg pain.  So the first responders did what anybody would do in that situation: they went to the nearest corner store to get some used cardboard to make a splint to immobilize the victim's extremity.

If this event teaches us anything it's that we should make the best with what we've got.  I think.

In other news, Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum thought about establishing a "unity party."  Where have I heard that before?

And on this weekend, people from outside Laredo don't have much reason to come to town, but I'll try to find something to do to entertain myself.  Choices include the South Texas Collectors Expo, and the plant exchange with the good people of the St. Peter's neighborhood.
