They Went To Shake Hands

Last month a throng of city officials made the trip to Washington D.C. to plead the feds for funds.  Everybody got new duds and put on their best smiles for photo ops galore.  No questions were posed concerning the mayor's, or city council's purpose for going.  All that was offered from them was the need to secure funding for public safety.  So with that, it's all legit, and there's no need for us to worry.

I wondered, however, about the need for lodging for 42 city officials -- the need for airfare, and meals, and what not.  Well, it seems that the city asked for donations from those who get city contracts have the wherewithal to fund such trips.  Of course, the donors put up out of the kindness of their hearts.

A grand total of $105,300.00!!!  That's traveling-in-style money.  I was kinda disappointed that Uni-Trade only gave $2,500.  They're probably pacing themselves as they have really close ties to this administration, and business between the two is still ongoing.
