We hear of spikes in
violence in Nuevo Laredo from time to time, but that doesn't seem to keep people away. I have friends who go over to shop, or have dinner. I have family members who go to seek medical attention, or care for ailing relatives. Is it because we've become desensitized to the atrocities, or has denial and a sense of invincibility driven us to visit our sister city? Whatever the case, I find it fascinating a person's will to go across in the presence of such sporadic chaos.
