Of five competing companies, Laredo-based firm Cavazos and Associates Architects was tapped Tuesday night to redesign Nixon High School, while fellow city company Frank Architects will design the new home for the Vidal M. TreviƱo School of Communications and Fine Arts.
Good for Nixon.  The area has seen quite a bit of construction in recent months.  There's a new water tank going up near the school.  The overpass on Guadalupe St. might be completed later this year.  And Mercy Hospital lays waiting.  Still....
Viviana Frank, of Frank Architects, said the Nixon High redesign and the new VMT will be a “beacon” of the Heights neighborhood.
We'll see about that.
