Laredo officials lobby feds

On its first day in Washington, the Laredo delegation divided itself into three teams: public safety, environment, and transportation infrastructure.
The public safety team was composed of Mayor Raul Salinas, Mayor Pro Tempore Johnny Rendon, City Manager Carlos Villarreal, Deputy City Manager Cynthia Collazo, and police Chief Carlos Maldonado. That team met with the Departments of Justice and Homeland Security.
Instead of traveling to Washington, city leaders should've stayed home to promote civility. In their absence we've had people pointing guns at each other and ex-girlfriends menacing relatives with crowbars.
That's not going to do anything for Laredo's pride. Our mayor and city manager should check out of the Comfort Inn, hop back into their coach seats and get back to doing whatever it is they do.
LaredoTejas has his own objection to this field trip.
