Hollywood Awards Time

The awards season in Hollywood is well underway. The Critics Choice Awards were given out this past Friday, and tonight the Golden Globe Awards take place. Usually award winners get repetitive by the time the Oscars come around in late February, but there is an occasional surprise.

The Critics chose "The Social Network" as Best Film, Colin Firth as Best Actor for "The King's Speech," Natalie Portman as Best Actress in "Black Swan," and the Best Cast award went to the actors in "The Fighter." We will see if they all win again tonight on NBC @ 7pm.

The Golden Globes also recognize the acting and shows on television which is the main reason that I like this award show a lot. Everyone is mixed up and mingling; you get to see Rainn Wilson and Eva Longoria sitting near Robert De Niro and Nicole Kidman! I have to watch every year; it's just a self-imposed ritual.
Update: Same winners as expected for Movie, Actor, and Actress. On the comedy side "The Kids are Alright" won for Best Picture, Annette Bening for Best Actress for that movie, and Paul Giamatti won for Best Actor in "Barney's Version."
