Workshop targets customer service

Everyone has at least one customer service horror story.
But a local advertising and marketing firm wants to lessen the frequency of those horror stories by launching the first of several planned half-day professional customer service training workshops.
Called “The Customer Is Always Right,” the first workshop was Tuesday morning at the Holiday Inn Civic Center.
Some businesses do employ people who provide good customer service, but for the most part, a friendly greeting and uninterrupted attention is not always on tap.
I applaud Mr. Barrera for hosting this event but I wouldn't go as far as naming a workshop "The Customer Is Always Right." You want customers to return and you want to treat them with dignity and respect but sometimes some people can be rather pushy.
If the customer is always right, then that conveys the message that the employee is doing something wrong. That phrase might even instill a sense of resentment in an employee. For someone who's earning minimum wage and being bombarded with a heavy load, a little more motivation might be in store than an old adage.
