Costly absences

LISD lost nearly $1M due to students missing school

A drop in attendance rates at LISD during the 2009-10 school year cost the district hundreds of thousands, if not more than $1 million, less in state aid.

Guess which school had the poorest attendance record.  Hint:  it's the school pictured.  Nick Georgiou writes:
Martin High posted the lowest 2009-10 attendance rate at 93.1 percent
Just last month we learned that they made progress with their test scores.  We just couldn't let it go to their heads, I guess.

UPDATE:  Tropical Storm Hermine is coming towards us.  Rain is expected tonight and tomorrow.  The inclement weather could cause students to stay home and force some people to call their respective schools to ask if classes are going to be cancelled.
