Big Rig Problems
El Manana reports that complaints against truck drivers are down from last year. Nuevo Laredo transportation officials state that complaints range from drivers using routes not normally designated for heavy equipment, to not abiding with schedules, and speeding.
Sanctions against truck drivers are meted out in the form of suspensions; The duration depends on each individual case.
In our neck of the woods (insert Laredo barrio name here) it's not uncommon to see big rigs parked on residential properties. Why, just around the corner from my house, a driver parks his rig right on the street. But I've never known the neighbors to complain about its presence. It's just become a fact of life, especially in a town that depends mightily on its transportation industry.
Luckily we haven't had problems with these operators speeding on our crowded streets.
