I Just Don't Get It

At the risk of sounding like a crabby old man who longs for the past, I have to take issue with what passes for entertainment these days.

Pictured is a scene from MTV's "Silent Library."  This episode, which aired yesterday, featured Nadia Suleman shooting an actor with plastic babies.  This scenario is wrong on so many levels.  For me the most obvious offense is how MTV has evolved into the home of the talentless.

Vanilla Ice may not have offered much in the realm of music but his tiny, annoying contribution packs more taste than what these throwaways are doing.  Again, my age may have a lot to do with me liking hating current fads but I just can't comprehend how this could qualify as worthwhile.

Somehow adolescent frat boys, attention-grabbing females, and brain-dead t.v. make their way into my consciousness.  I try to avoid them all but their power is just too great.  I can stick to the people who really make me laugh, like Mario Cantone; but his take on the Vagina Monologues and me picturing him with longer hair conjures up the image of "The Octomom."  It's a sad joke when someone who I truly loathe (Suleman) looks like one of my heroes (Cantone).
