Between revenue shortages, new expenses and plummeting property valuations, the City of Laredo faces a nearly $16 million budget shortfall while drafting the 2011 fiscal year budget.
City staff is looking at ways to deal with the shortfall.
- 10-20% cuts in operating budgets for non-contract departments
- Layoffs (unlikely)
- No replacements will be hired if somebody leaves his/her position
- Employees taking days off without pay (unlikely)
