I was surprised when I recently learned that a nephew had hit the 1,000,000th text mark. My immediate thought was, 'who could he be texting, and what could he be texting?' My astonishment aside, it looks like this form of communication is here to stay.
However, I wonder how different my life would've been if I had a cell phone during my years at la Martin. Back in high school I had about a handful of friends. If Facebook existed back then, I could've had double that, easy. Friends could've texted me the latest party scene scoop. My social life could've been totally different. Of course, I probably would be subject to some type of text bullying, but imagine the people I could've met.
But....if I had a more active social life, I would've never known the struggles of Sonny Crocket. ???
