When an explosion hit the oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico, I thought it would be the perfect time to rail against expanding off-shore drilling. But I thought that was too convenient an argument. Several workers were never found and now officials are dealing with the massive oil spill caused by the accident.
The big slick being set on fire doesn't offer much confidence. If this is the best they can do to contain a spill, then I don't want any more drilling. One bad idea is only made worse.
But this recent event aside, I'm still against more exploration. We need to go in another direction.
