City of Laredo staff had another meet-and-greet with residents of the neighborhood located just south of LCC's main campus. I've heard it referred to as El Rincon del Diablo. Can someone please confirm this?
Anyway, several residents of the area attended to voice their concerns to those who specialize in community development. Councilwoman Cindy Liendo-Espinoza was also there. Kudos to her. Issues, such as the lack of park space for kids to pass the time, street paving, and drug use were brought up.
One resident expressed his disappointment. He spoke of how former Councilman Ramirez promised a water park and other improvements to the area, but to this day, nothing has been done.
While the discussion was going on, I was trying to come up with ideas for parks in the old neighborhood, but I found it difficult since the barrio is not exactly flush with space. Afterwards I got to speak with Ms. Liendo about the challenges facing this and other Laredo neighborhoods.
