Zach Lindsey (LMT) writes that county is looking into building a jail. But commissioners are going to tread lightly.

Commissioner Sergio "Keko" Martinez wants to make sure that there is a funding mechanism before taxpayer money is spent on a new jail.

And Javier Mendoza is running for City Council.

If elected, Mendoza said he plans to do away with the discretionary funds that each council member uses for special projects. Instead, he wants to see each council member submit an equal-sized list of projects to the voter.

I'll have to ask him about that someday.
