Looks like the once prosperous US newspaper business model continues to nosedive. Latest figures show a drop of 27 percent in advertising revenue including both print and online ads. In dollar terms, that's a change from 37.84 billion dolares to 27.56 billion. 10 billion bolas gone into thin air.
Classified revenue shortfall is even worse at 38% thanks (or no thanks) to free listings like Craigslist. Either way, the move to free online content continues and traditional print giants like the Tribune Co. are going bankrupt. This is no bueno for our friendly neighborhood paper.
Maybe they should raise fees for online access?
