I Heard That Before

Every time I hear Let It Die by the Foo Fighters, it reminds me of two other songs. The bass part, early in the song, gives us a hint of the melody I'm referring to; it's not until 2:47 in, that the guitar gives me a strong sense that I've heard this somewhere else. Have a listen.

Journey's Stone in Love has a similar part that comes in at 2:33.

And the Oooooooo'ed melody of Level 42's Something About You also sounds a bit familiar.

  1. You forgot one of the all time great rip offs. The opening guitar riff of Nirvana's "Smells like Teen Spirit" is a (very) small variation on the main riff to Boston's "More Than A Feeling".

  5. I'm trying to figure out what song Janet Jackson ripped to create Rhythm Nation.

  6. Janet was 'borrowing' from Prince's "I wanna be your lover" & Dizzy Gillespie's "Salt Peanuts".
